Artist Francis Kodankandath is today renowned across the country as a contemporary artist with a very distinctive style following a thought process that is highly experimental in nature. His several pursuits in creativity over the years has made him a respected figure in the contemporary art circles as a personality who keeps on challenging his artistic senses while pushing the boundaries in the pursuit of more experimentation. Two of his most acclaimed paintings are “First Supper” and “Sa-re-ga-ma-pa-dha-ni-sa”, a creation inspired from the seven colours of the rainbow.
This winner of National Academy Award 2003-2004 for the work titled “Restoration Within” and three state awards which includes a Lalit Kala Akademi Award in the year 1993 has had the honour of presenting his paintings in solo exhibitions at the Japanese International Cultural Cooperation Agency in Tokyo, International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Italy, New Heaven City Art Gallery in U.S.A, University de-Joseph Fourier in Paris, River Date Art Gallery in UK, Newman Centre University of New Orleans in U.S.A, Jahangir Art Gallery in Bombay and Lalithakala Academy Art Gallery in Kerala.
